Oakland's cemeteries were among the nearly 5,600 locations across the country that held wreath-laying ceremonies on Saturday.

Grant augments $1.6 million budget appropriation that town received from Tallahassee this year.

The measure is largely preventive since the town has no Live Local projects planned or completed.

In Wednesday State of the Town speech, Mayor Shane Taylor said if a ballot measure passed, the town would be forced to "forfeit" capital improvements, events, staff.

Oakland Mayor Taylor: “ICE has no authority nor a mandate to interfere over celebrating or showcasing culture and heritage.”

An email, circulated to town commissioners and local media, alleged the hire by a town vendor “compromises the integrity of the contracting process.”
