VoxPopuli Journalism Scholarship

Overview ‍

VoxPopuli provides a $500 scholarship to graduating seniors at West Orange County public high schools attending journalism school to help them develop the skills to become effective reporters, writers, photo journalists and editors. We find that the best reporting comes from a broad range of perspectives, so students from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

How to apply

Submit your application online by MARCH 15, 2026, using the form below. Before you get started, you will need a list of the journalism programs you are applying to and a video (up to four minutes) that details your interest in journalism. What we most want to know is what excites you about journalism, the experience you've had already and the kind of journalism you're most interested in doing in the future (political reporting, news reporting, investigative reporting, feature writing, etc.). Your application will be reviewed by the VoxPopuli staff and board. We will notify all applicants when we award the scholarship.

VoxPopuli is an independent digital news site covering the government and politics of West Orange County. Our mission is to produce fierce, fact-based reporting that makes government more transparent, holds local leaders to account and amplifies voices not always heard in legacy media.
