Bells rang out 49 times to commemorate those killed in the country’s deadliest LGBTQ+ hate crime.

A decade after the nightclub shooting left 49 dead and dozens more wounded, survivors and advocates are working to keep the memories of those who perished that terrible night alive.

“The far right doesn’t have a monopoly on faith or family. We have many religious communities that embrace their LGBTQ members, and many LGBTQ people who choose to build loving families in the state,” says Equality Florida.
